How come dermatitis eyelid is so common among eczema sufferers? Could it be because the skin on the eyelids are so thin and fragile? The answer to that question is yes, but that is not obvious until you understand the root cause of eyelid eczema, and other types of eczema as well.

Eczema tend to appear where the skin is stretching because this makes the skin on these areas thinner and more vulnerable. It is the same thing with eyelid dermatitis. Eczema is toxins from inside the body being expelled through the skin.

This expelling of excess toxins takes place all over the body, but eczema typically manifest first and foremost in places where the skin is weaker or thinner than other places. This is also the reason why dermatitis on the eyelid is so common among eczema sufferers.

I used to have red oozing eyelids all the time myself. Dermatitis eyelid really is some nasty stuff. Eczema looks like chemical burns, and that is not so far from what it actually is.

As the overload of toxins is too much for the body to handle, the skin suffers as the body expel the load of toxins through the sweat. The skin on the eyelids is literally burned away by these toxins, and you are diagnosed with eyelid dermatitis.

Using hydrocortisone on the eyelids is not very wise in my opinion. The skin is too fragile and sensitive there, and it is too close to the eyes. Long term effects can actually effect the eye itself in a bad way. Use at your own risk.
